Why do women wear makeups? Why do they wear clothes that emphasize their figures? Why do they spend so many hours at the shower? Why do they wear shoes that kill their feet?

Is it worthy to say that its because they wanted to get the attention of men? Is it justifiable to say that they are doing it just to please someone?

After posting these questions, a lot of images entered in my mind: Geishas, the parable of the virigns, one of my best girl friends- Michelle, and Kisengs perhaps.

What all of these concepts or people have in common? They all contribute on the notion embedded in Filipina’s subconscious that in one way or another we should be pleasing men. Maybe that is why, of all the men I have dated, they are so wary of how relatively huge my legs are compared with other women. Or maybe how my hips depicted the depth of a flying saucer. Each and everyday that I hear men telling me to exercise, or maybe do this and do that, I just can’t help but to curse in my head.

Screw you assholes! If there is one reason why I wanted to shred all of this fats, is because there are no longer enough of you asking me to do so!

So here’s my point, the beautification of Filipinas that stem out from the need for an ideal weight, a preferred amount of makeup, a preferred attire- which is often skimpy and slutty and a million more things that one can add into the list is still such a big issue due to women’s subconscious desire to please men. Men on the other hand, are drooling like hyenas over the implicit behavior of women, hence furthering the idea that there is indeed a need to please them.

The statutory laws deemed as imperative the role of the Filipina to her husband- that is to fuck him as long as he desires. America’s Next Top Model shouts to the world the standard of beauty. And it appears as well that women who are unfortunate to reason as much as men does are often trapped in the maze- hence a new age sex slave.

Just another perspective for men so that they know: there is a population of Filipinas who dress slutty for themselves; who wear those red-pumps ala lady marmalade for themselves; who exercise for themselves; and definitely who has the perspective that is wider than yours. So next time, when you are in a verge of telling a Filipina how do you want them to dress, how do you want them to act, or how much weight do you want them to lose- think twice because you may never know which specie you are talking to.

Most Filipinas when asked to do these things or when hear these things view them as an indirect order that they have to follow. Of course whims like these could be taken into consideration sometimes, but no one knows for how long women can play the game. If the bible view women as someone who must be subordinated to men, definitely this idea is perfectly modernized to the current demands of the contemporary Philippines. Surely, the church would not say that “hey you bitch, drop your work and domesticate your self”. But rather the church would say that “women are the ones who bring light to the home. They should be helping their husbands to raise a good family. The essence of being a woman is nothing but to see her children well and followers of Christ” blah blah blah, I almost fainted typing that.

Ok, so enough of the sarcasm. The thing is humanity is naturally driven to things that are aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Women because of their breasts and vaginas are indeed pleasing to the eyes of men. However, when women exert too much effort that is directed to a man and not for her self, she is nothing but perpetuating a new way of further subordinating women which is somehow the 21st century way of the church saying “go home bitch and domesticate yourself”.
