8 March is globally celebrated as the International Women’s Day–a day connecting all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.

To all of us women, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

Let us honor all mothers, wives, grandmothers, aunts, daughters and colleagues. Let us honor our Filipina countrymen. Let us honor all women all over the world, including those who continue to be deprived of their basic right, and those who suffer from all forms of abuse and discrimination.

Let us honor all Filipina women, especially those who work overseas, our present day modern heroes–they who have have taken the ultimate sacrifice of leaving the comforts of home and their families, with the hope of giving them a better life and a good future.

Let us honor all our women leaders, there are still so many good ones by the way.

In some countries, men honor their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc. with flowers and small gifts, in some, IWD is now an official holiday, while in some, children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers, with IWD being the equivalent of Mother’s Day.

What loving gesture it is to be honored, to he appreciated on on such a special day.

The organizers of IWD tells us to make a difference–think globally and act locally! Let us make everyday International Women’s Day, and do our bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

The Filipina Images has, half a year ago, taken the first steps. Let us all do our share, contribute your articles, write in your own blogs, and continue to link the word “Filipina“.
