Filipina KC Concepcion as United Nations Ambassador against Hunger

Filipina celebrity Kristina Cassandra ‘KC’ Concepcion is the newest national ambassador of United Nations World Food Program (WFP). She is only the second ambassador against hunger from Southeast Asia after Indonesian television and film actor Luna Maya.

KC Concepcion is considered showbiz royalty in the Philippines, her parents being superstar Sharon Cuneta and 1980s matinee idol Gabby Concepcion, who have since separated and have their own families already.

According to UN WFP Director Valerie Guarnieri, KC is perfect for the role: “KC is the total package: she is beautiful, she is charming, she is articulate, she is smart, she is down to earth. She did not complain during our fairly difficult traveling around in Mindanao; she relished it.”

KC’s first public appearance as ambassador was when she went to Pikit, North Cotabato in Mindanao where she distributed food to schoolchildren.

“When we were traveling with her in Cotabato it was just amazing to see how children reacted to her, how everybody reacted to her, they were so touched that she visited them that she cared about their issues. KC just has a tremendous appeal among young people, among adults,” Guarnieri added.
