FilipinaImages.com is a collaborative effort of all the bloggers who believe that the The Filipina of the Future deserves a more empowered, diverse image online. Multiple, complex, and whole. The timeless Filipina campaign is brought about by the efforts of Lorna Lardizabal-Dietz, Dine Racoma and Noemi Lardizabal-Dado . This is the story of the revival of the “Filipina Image Online Campaign”.

Dine Racoma received a nasty comment from “decent mother” on June 25, 2007. The “decent mother” insinuated that Dine was “a disgrace to the Filipino women” because of her internet nickname, “Sexy Mom” . The “decent mother” even threatened her that something will happen to her family. Her son, BA then wrote that her mom is promoting the Filipina mother in a very wholesome way.

Taking pity on Dine’s plight, Noemi consulted her sister, Lorna who provided an insight. “The anonymous writer has good intentions but I think doesn’t understand that fighting hackneyed perceptions about “sexy mom” means also fighting the women’s cause by using the same weapons — that is, the same words”. Noemi got inspired with Lorna’s insight. She then blogged about Reshaping the Sexy Filipina Image based on previous “Filipina” campaigns in the past like Search Engine Optimization Expert (SEO), Marc Macalua; The Filipina and “Yan ang Pinay”, Fabulous Filipina Presence and others.

On July 21, 2007, during the first day at WordCamp for WordPress users, Lorna spoke up and told her fellow conference attendees about the online campaign to take back the word Filipina online from its massive “dating and penpal websites” and put this word in a more balanced context. The loud applause caught her off-guard. This incident inspired Dine and Noemi to fiercely campaign and reclaim the dignity of the Filipina Woman and reshape the clean Image of the Sexy Filipina .

Upon consultation with Rhiz, a Philippines SEO Practitioner, the FilipinaImages.com was created to sustain the Filipina Image Online Campaign.

The Filipina Images is not just reclaiming the Sexy Filipina word online. It has now evolved into a timeless campaign to create balance in the Search Engine results of “Filipina”.
