Using the term “Sexy Mom” is a good thing and I will tell you why. The internet is a “context based, indexed filing system” and therefore, when web pages change the meaning of general context from negative to positive it becomes a trend that like a blotter, at once gets spot, then starts to become saturated.

Picture it as a cup of vinegar in a large vat. We add an equal part of apple cider and it still is bitter… not sweet at all by eventually, adding enough cider begins to sweeten the brew until finally, many gallons/liters later, the vinegar can not be tasted at all and we have a context that is pure MASARAP!

Keep up the great image changing work and the fine perception of what I call the “True Filipina”

Now it is up to you to change your perception.

In my marketing, public relations, community service, and event management worlds, the keyword “sexy” means “attractive,” “appealing,” “hip,” “trendy,” “in vogue,” “fashionable, “in style,” “contemporary” and all the positive adjectives you can think of.

Dr. Belen Lardizabal-Dofitas, a gorgeous, multi-talented Filipina mom (a.k.a. my youngest sister) from Quezon City, Philippines breastfeeds her almost-five years old son, Matthew. When Belen was in Oxford, England last year for three months, upon her return to the Philippines, Matthew couldn’t wait to get his fill of mother’s milk. Mind you, Matthew has been my favorite poster child since he was born. When he barely turned two years old, Matthew and I bonded — and guess what, it was about constructing sentences in the English language, with the correct subject and verb placements. I could see the “aha!” lightbulb expression on his face as we cheered him during our Christmas English lessons… But I am digressing! Matthew is Belen’s fourth breast-fed child, and yes, he’ll most likely be breastfeeding when he’s five years old. Mama mia! I asked myself, “When is he going to stop?”

Yes, you read it right. I went topless in the beaches of Europe. The first time was during our two week vacation in Cannes, France. The second one was during our three week holiday in Calpe, Spain. My younger Filipina sister, Myrna Lardizabal de Vera, is back from Italy where her family took a well-deserved vacation. We talked about the wonderful adventures they had in Sorrento and Rome — including a surprise performance for their group by noted opera singer, Andrea Bocelli, and a visit to the Vatican Palace. I cannot wait to check out the 500-plus photos of their summer vacation!

Before she left for Italy, Myrna informed me that I could now see her in action from the convenience of my laptop computer. Really! I finally made the time to watch a video of a typical Planning Commission meeting she chairs in the dynamic city of Hercules, California. Ever since she took her oath of office as an appointed commissioner two years ago, I had not been able to attend a commission meeting. In April of 2007, after serving a few months as Vice-Chair and Acting Chair, Myrna de Vera was voted by the Commission as the new Chairperson. I’m so proud to be a witness of her leadership, courtesy of the internet. My heart goes out to Myrna since I know that she wholeheartedly studies and reviews the issues and plans of the city’s development in accordance with the Master Plan and prepares thoroughly for every commission meeting. Yes, democracy in action!

In the Philippines Google Search Engine Results Page (SERPs) of August 2, 2007, the Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) was number 6 of page 1 . It was one reason the site was chosen as the sitewide links for the Filipina Campaign. (Other Filipina sites will follow suit) There is a strong possibility to rank this group as number 1 for the “Filipina” keyword.

How to Reshape the Sexy Filipina Image campaign started a month ago. Around mid-July, my sister, Lorna, spoke up at WordPress’s WordCamp in San Francisco and told the 300-something participants about our campaign.

I told my fellow conference attendees about the google bombing campaign my sister, Noemi Dado, and her friends were undertaking to take back the word “Filipina” online from its massive “dating and penpal websites” and put this word in a more balanced context. The loud applause caught me off-guard.

The bloggers liked the idea of the campaign and immediately approached my sister and chatted with her about taking back the word “Jew” online. (Google posted an explanation on the offensive results for the keyword Jew)

It’s inspiring other bloggers to start their own campaign.

I also understand Connie’s apprehension about this type of campaign.

The solution did not lie in Google-bombing. At most, it would have been something temporary and artificial. The solution was to provide more visibility to sites showcasing the other side of the Filipina — the loving wives and mothers, the competent professionals, the outstanding bloggers with real messages to relay.

It makes sense.

Dominating the Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP) for a single keyword such as “Filipina” will not happen in just a few months. It is a long-term goal. And it is achievable and reachable.

If a lot of people are using the anchor text “Filipina” but the links are pointing to different websites, then the campaign would be useless.

One of the reasons for editing my original entry, How to Reshape the Sexy Filipina Image in 3 Easy Steps is so we can better strive for realistic goals in achieving a balance of the Filipina sites in SERPs.

After some intense (and educational) discussions with friends, I decided to fine-tune this campaign emphasizing that it is a worthy cause to advocate in the long run.
